After launching IrishIsAnAttitude.com for the Dublin Convention and Visitor's Bureau, the team identified a key issue for the CVB audience: mobility. Visitors to the Dublin, Ohio area are on the go, ready to visit the zoo or the Dublin Irish Festival, try a few local restaurants and crash into a comfy bed at a nearby hotel. Quickly accessing content like phone numbers and info about special events or attractions is crucial.
It was makeover time!
Before

While the website looks to be brimming with things to do in Dublin, as it was designed, on a mobile device it's harder to see small images, words and links. It's more difficult for fingers to physically click links or pictures on a mobile phone than it is online.
"Mobile sites need different goals than regular websites," says Angela Trego, Upward's web development manager. "It's not mobile if all of the info from the standard site is just copied."
Working in partnership with the Dublin CVB staff, we identified goals and key content to be included on the mobile platform, including ways to direct visitors to the accommodations and fun events taking place in Dublin, said Angela. If the user wants to see additional site content, they can always click to view full site content.
The team also wanted to keep the very Irish color and feel to the site, so certain design elements remained in place to mimic the full website. Check out the "after" images below, or preview the mobile version by going to IrishIsAnAttitude.com/m.
